Action Lesotho has developed a series of work sheets for teachers and parents in Ireland. These are aimed at helping children think about the lives of children in other countries, especially a developing country like Lesotho where life is very different and people face many challenges. The work sheets explore issues around aspects of daily life, including food, clothes, school, health & farming.
Action Lesotho hopes that the work sheets will provide a springboard for discussion in the classroom or at home. We believe that an important part of a child education is an understanding of the wider world and the challenges faced by others. We hope that through understanding the lives of others, that children can grow up to become active global citizens, helping shape a better, more equitable future for the world.
Note: the work sheets that have been developed so far are aimed at primary level children, but we are working on developing more advanced work sheets for older children. Watch this space!

Learning about the lives of others is a two-way process. Action Lesotho works with Maboee Primary School in Ha Maqele and St. Luke’s Primary School in Maputsoe. Through twinning with a school in Ireland and a school in the UK, the children are learning about how life is different for each other. A class from each school takes part in Skype links and the children have shown each other examples of traditional dances & songs and have discussed topics such as the different systems of punishment if they’re naughty!
